Our Story

The roots of today

Howling Ridge Farm was established in 2020, the farm is owned and operated by Nathan Williams.  The vision for Howling Ridge began in childhood when Nathan was growing up, raising animals with parents and spending time with his grandparents.  The time with family allowed Nathan to be exposed to cattle farming and gardening.  The Vickers family concentrated in gardening, canning, and preserving foods to provide for family and friends, whereas the Williams family concentrated in cattle farming selling beef to the market.  The roots of Howling Ridge are a culmination of these family traditions.

When Nathan moved to Pendergrass in 2014 the vision of farming became a reality.  The first several years were spent re-establishing the land into a working farm.  Howling Ridge currently focuses on commercial beef cow calf operation as well as selling local raised beef to market.  Howling Ridge Farm maintains a garden for fall and spring produce and sells produce to market.  In 2021, we plan to introduce pork to the market and continue growing our produce gardens.  Nathan spends many hours researching livestock, gardening to bring sustainability and the best quality products to the markets.

If you spend any time on the farm, you will quickly realize this place is special.  The Howling Ridge is named after Nathan’s Redbone Coonhound, Lincoln.  Ask any of the neighbors and they will tell you they hear the howl echoing across the ridges.
