The Rushmore Four
The Pets
The ones who change you forever
Spend any time on a farm and there will be certain animals that just stand out from the others. In 2016 Lincoln came to the farm, he was a complete surprise. There was no anticipation of him therefore no names had been picked out, several days passed before he had a name. Fast forward to 2016, we had a group of donkeys that had lived together their whole lives so they came to the farm and mid-way into 2017 we noticed one just looked like she had gained a few pounds but nothing significant, not having any experience in donkeys we soon had proof of what the extra pounds were. We had a colorful little baby donkey running around, after a couple days he caught pneumonia and spent 2 weeks in the ICU at UGA. Teddy was decided as his name, keeping with a presidential theme. During this time, the thought went through about Mt Rushmore and upon a quick look to Google realized that we are halfway to having the Mt Rushmore Four. Fast forward to the end of 2017 and we experience the first set of twins, both were doing good and then we had a cold snap and one caught pneumonia. After spending the night in the barn to keep him warm, nothing was going to stop this little guy from having every chance possible. He was struggling to breath with so much phlegm in his chest, the vet from UGA did not give him much of a chance but agreed to give him the best chance they could. Georgie fought back and it took nearly 3 weeks at the UGA Vet Hospital but he pulled through and came home to live in a dog lot that was taken from Lincoln and Georgie got his strength up and is now roaming the pastures on the farm. That leaves just one more, Jefferson, so far, we do not have a Jefferson, but I am sure we will be blessed with him before too long.

A couple other additions to the farm have been Wyatt, he is a Kangal and watches over the goats. He is the law in the goat pasture like Wyatt Earp was the law in every town he went. Kira was born early in 2020 and spends her time with her mom with the pigs.
